My Background

Moby Coquillard received his Bachelor's Degree from Stanford University in 1984, majoring in Human Biology with a concentration in Social Psychology. He received his Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University in 1988. He has been married since 1987, is a parent, and has been licensed by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as a Marriage & Family Therapist since 1991 (BBS License# MFC28341). Moby works with adults, couples, and adolescents and believes psychotherapy is a powerful healing tool that enables people to overcome anxieties and lead more fulfilling lives. He helps people integrate mind, body and spirit in the interest of developing a meaningful relationship with themselves and significant others. He believes psychotherapy is about helping people become more of who they are, and he enjoys the process of providing a safe healing experience within the therapy relationship. Moby's experience includes many years of providing family and couples therapy, and he particularly enjoys helping couples grow within their changing relationship. Moby has extensive experience with adults and adolescents around sexual and physical abuse, with both victims and perpetrators. It is through this experience that he developed an interest and expertise in helping people heal from traumatic experiences in their lives.

Moby has had a private psychotherapy practice in San Mateo since 1991. He has worked with adolescents in group homes, foster homes, school groups, and in his private practice. Moby has also coordinated and managed abuse prevention and recovery programs, and he led parent education groups for 8 years. He has coordinated several intern training and supervision programs, and has supervised Masters and Post Docorate level interns since 1993. He was also the Clinical Director for 4 years at North Peninsula Family Alternatives, in South San Francisco. From 2000-2004, he was a part time faculty member at San Francisco State University in the graduate Counseling program, teaching Theory and Techniques of Couples and Family Therapy. Moby has also provided a number of trainings on family therapy, child abuse intervention, adolescent development, and sexual abuse.
