"When understanding arises, love and acceptance will also arise, and
they will bring the suffering to an end."

                                                        Psychotherapy Services

My practice is devoted to helping people find meaning and happiness in their lives.
I specialize in three main areas.

Anxiety, trauma resolution & PTSD:
I support people in developing meaningful skills towards relaxation and inner calm. I teach meditation and relaxation skills, and I help people develop a sense of meaning that makes life more satisfying. At times this process also involves resolution of earlier traumas, and I create a safe atmosphere in the therapy session to facilitate this resolution.  I am certified in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), which aides the process of trauma resolution.  For more information about EMDR, go to http://www.emdr.com or http://www.emdria.org.

Adolescents:
I work with teenagers beginning at the age of 15.  This is definitely a time of transition, identity formation, values clarification, and behavioral experimentation. Therapy for adolescents is a process that enables them to identify and recognize their needs and goals. By establishing a therapeutic relationship with a teenager, I assist them in aligning their behaviors with their goals. I also help teenagers learn to make self-supportive decisions and to communicate with family and friends assertively. Adolescent therapy includes individual and family therapy and parent consultations.

Couples:
My work with couples stems from a basic tenet that relationships grow and evolve just as people do, and many couples find themselves stuck at certain points of transition in their relationship. I  facilitate positive conflict resolution and communication skills, and I aid couples in resolving past hurts, and learning to balance closeness with independence. I help each partner find the space to grow within the relationship, and I emphasize the importance of acceptance and understanding of each other. Sometimes couples decide to end the relationship, and I can facilitate an amicable process towards this end as well.  For further suggestions on making couples therapy useful:

In addition, many of my clients also come to my office to address life growth & transition, divorce, grief,
and sexuality issues.  I believe in both brief and long term approaches, depending on my clients' needs.
