Psychotherapy Services

My practice is devoted to helping people find meaning and happiness in their lives.
I specialize in three main areas.

Anxiety Management,Trauma Resolution and PTSD

I support people in developing meaningful skills towards relaxation and inner calm. I teach meditation and relaxation skills, and I help people develop a sense of meaning that makes life more satisfying.  I will help you recognize how previous traumas are affecting your present day functioning, and I will help you develop approaches to regulate and understand your emotional reactions.  My goal is to help you resolve your struggles as quickly as possible, while also respecting the time it takes to heal.  My work is very interactive, and I view it as my role to create a safe atmosphere in the therapy session to facilitate this resolution.

I am certified in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and I use this approach to facilitate trauma resolution. EMDR is also very useful in helping people learn to live with and manage anxiety and stress.  For more information: EMDR

I also utilize Natural Processing, which integrates a somatic approach to healing and developing resilience. For more information: NP

Couples Therapy

My work with couples stems from a basic tenet that relationships grow and evolve just as people do, and many couples find themselves stuck at certain points of transition in their relationship. Sexuality also needs to evolve as the relationship grows and changes.  Helping couples of all backgrounds to integrate their sexuality is essential to this process.  Discovering ways to meet attachment needs is central to the couples therapy I do.

I  facilitate positive conflict resolution and communication skills, and I help couples resolve past hurts and learn to balance closeness with independence. I help each partner find the space to grow within the relationship, and I emphasize the importance of acceptance and understanding of each other.

Sometimes couples decide to end the relationship, and I can facilitate an amicable process towards this end as well.

Psychotherapy for
Men

I work with men at all stages of their development, around a variety of issues: trauma, committed relationships, work or career challenges, or a desire to grow and be more of the man they wish to be in life. I work with straight and gay men from diverse backgrounds, most of whom are entering therapy and wanting to be more effective in their lives.

If you are a man considering therapy, you probably recognize that you may have been conditioned to avoid vulnerability, to problem solve instead of listen; to overcome or ignore emotions. Many men believe they need to succeed, be strong, and achieve in order to matter. Does this sound familiar?

Sensitive men struggle with integrating their sensitivity and their masculinity, and may not have been given the skills to understand their own contributions and responsibilities in a an intimate relationship.

Should you choose to work with me, I will help you learn to acknowledge your needs, emotions, and vulnerabilities in order to help you harness them towards your goals. Therapy with with me will help you to release yourself from the shame that results with emotional disconnection.  I will help you learn to relate to your body and yourself, allowing you to know more about who you really are. Central to my work is helping you to love yourself and to learn how to love others.

If you are a man looking into therapy, working with me will help you find more joy and relaxation in life, and you will discover your ability to understand and express your needs for connection and authenticity.
